Sunday Cinema Classics: "Smoke Signals" In-Person
Arnold rescued Thomas from a fire when he was a child. While Thomas thinks of Arnold as a hero, Arnold's son Victor resents his father's alcoholism, violence, and abandonment of his family. When Arnold dies, the duo set out on a journey from the Coeur d'Alene reservation in Idaho to Phoenix to retrieve Arnold's ashes.
Regarded as a cinematic landmark, "Smoke Signals" is the first feature film written, directed, and co-produced by Native Americans.
