Chess Simul with Grandmaster Alexander Ivanov In-Person
Think you're good enough to play chess against a Grandmaster? Now's your chance to give it a try! Join us for an exciting afternoon as Grand Master (GM) Alexander Ivanov plays against 30 other chess players. Co-sponsored with the Nashua Chess Club.
GM Ivanov will spend about 30 minutes taking audience Q&A, then the simul will begin.
To participate in the simul:
- Registration required.
- Arrive by 11:30 to go over the rules and set up
- GM Ivanov must be able to recognize the chess pieces at a glance. Therefore, players must bring their own traditional boards and pieces to play.
- GM Ivanov will start each game, then move to the next player. You make your move only when GM Ivanov is in front of you, not while he is with another player. After your move, he will then make his move, and go to the next player. You have until your next turn to think about what your move will be. Once it is your turn again, your thinking time is over, and you must make your move immediately.
To attend the event as a bystander:
- No registration required.
- Begins at noon
Please note: While everyone is welcome to this public event, this is a quiet adult activity that requires focus and concentration. If younger children need space to move, please visit the Children's Area on the main floor.
